Riding Apparel
Riding Helmet:   Required while mounted, only certified ASTM/SEI certified helmet for Equestrian Sports.
Biking and other 'extreme' activity helmets are not permitted… riding helmets undergo structural testing
specific for horseback riding accidents.
Riding Gloves:   Highly recommended.  Gloves made specifically for riding are best.
(Gloves generalize the sensation of the hands through the reins to the horse's mouth, this is 'more kind' to
the horse's mouth.  Gloves also protect hands from injury or abrasions from the reins.)
Shoes:      Leather upper with heel such as; cowboy boots (western), paddock boots (western or english),
high boots (english) - TENNIS SHOES ARE NOT PERMITTED
Shirts: Riders should not ride in 'baggy' clothing for safety reasons, loose clothing can get caught on
tack and equipment, polo shirts and styles that can be tucked in are best.
(Neat fitting, tucked in shirts enable instructor to better assess rider position.)
Pants:
Western   Jeans (comfortable but not baggy), comfortable long pants
English   Breeches or jodhpurs, comfortable stretch type pants
Notes:
High Boots or half chaps protect the inside of the calf from being chafed and bruised by stirrup leathers.
Full Chaps - optional, can help rider have more secure seat, protects legs
No chewing gum or wearing dangling jewelry while riding.
Riding apparel can be purchased at local tack shops:
